What does Jesus’ saying in JOHN 12:25 mean?

“He who loves his soul* shall lose it, and he who hates his soul* in this world shall keep it for life eternal.”

Here we must note that most English translations of the New Testament use the word life instead of soul. But the original Greek version of the Bible uses the word ‘ψυχὴν’ [Gr. for psyche/soul] instead of the word life which seemed much more convenient to the European Churches…[Ὁ φιλῶν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἀπολλύει αὐτήν, καὶ ὁ μισῶν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ τούτῳ εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον φυλάξει αὐτήν.]

After a first look the excerpt seems to be a riddle.

The matter starts becoming clearer if we look up some ancient texts, which describe the twofold (dyadic) nature of the soul.

Let us start from the beginning: the creation of the Soul.

The fallen god Lucifer or second creator god Yaldabaoth, after defecting from the HyperUniverses of True Light, stealing creative codes, he settled in an old creation remnant –the forbidden tree– and started building his creation in it.

HERMES TRISMEGISTUS, HERMETIC TEXTS, VOL. I, SPEECHES I-XVII, SPEECH A:
Ǥ8. And I said to him:
–Where do these elements of nature come from? And he answered to me again:
–From the Divine Will which took the form of Logos (Word) and saw the good world (of the HyperUniverses) and mimicked it, creating a world with its own elements and its own creations, the souls.»

The creator (Lucifer/Yaldabaoth) molding a creature from the substance/paste of his world aiming to make it the most perfect one of its creation. …But his creature remained dead…

JOHN’S APOCRYPHON «And he (Yaldabaoth) said to the authorities who attended him: “Come, let us create a human according to the image of God and according to our own likeness, so that his image may become light for us (the bondservants of the god/creator).” …And all the angels and daemons labored until they had created the psychic body. And their product was completely inactive and motionless for a long time.»

And the oldest book of the East quotes:

In order to stress the fact that the creation of man is the work if a lesser god, I open a parenthesis, bringing forth an additional excerpt, since the Truth is scattered everywhere:

NEAR EAST TEXTS,  ENUMA ELISH (THE ASSYRO-BABYLONIAN EPIC OF CREATION) TABLET 6: «§1. When Marduk hears the words of the gods, his heart prompts him to create skillful works. He opens his mouth and turns to Ea to reveal to him the plan he had captured in his heart: “I shall gather blood and make bones. I will make a savage one. Man will be his name. I will create a truly savage man. He will undertake the service of the gods, so that they might be comfortable.»

The parenthesis closes and we go on…

The creator then remained undecided as to what he should do to make the creature he had made out of the ‘paste’ of his world come to life.

THE APOCRYPHON OF JOHN, THE GNOSTIC SOCIETY LIBRARY : «And the mother (of the creator/Yaldabaoth) who wanted to retrieve the power she had given to the chief archon, asked the Mother-Father (The Unuttered Principle) of the All, who is most merciful. He then sent the five lights down to the place of the angels of the chief archon, and advised him to bring forth the power of his mother. And they told Yaldabaoth: “Blow into his face (man-soul) something from your spirit and his body will arise.” And he blew into his face the spirit which is the power of his mother; he did not know (this), for he exists in ignorance. And the power of the mother came out of Yaldabaoth and went into the psychic body (soul) which they had made in likeness to ‘The One Who exists from the beginning’. The body moved, gained strength and it was luminous.»

The Soul makes its appearance then made of two essences: (a) from the ‘paste’ of the energy-world and (b) from the ‘breath’ of Yaldabaoth which contained Spirit.

OLD TESTAMENT, GENESIS CH. 2: «§7. And the Lord God made man from the dust of the earth* and he blew the breath of life into his nostrils; and man became a living soul.»

The texts below reaffirm, each in its own style, this duality (dyadicism) of the soul:* ‘Earth’ is the name of the cause of matter in all ancient texts.

HERMES TRISMEGISTUS, HERMETIC TEXTS, VOL. II, ‘EXCERPT XXIII, FROM THE HOLY BIBLE OF HERMES TRISMEGISTUS, TITLED KORE KOSMOU’ : «§14. God, no longer willing that the world above should be inert, decided to fill it with spirits, so that creation should not remain immobile and lifeless. He thus began crafting his plan with use of divine materials to bring forth his work. By taking spirit from himself (the creator’s breath), to the extent necessary, he mingled it mentally with fire and with certain other unknown substances; and having made them one, with certain apocryphal words of power, he set all the mixture swirling; until out of the compost a substance emerged, as it were, far subtler, far purer, and more translucent than the materials from which it came; and this material had two forms that only the craftsman god could see.§15. And since this matter neither melted when fire was set unto it, nor did it freeze, as it was a creation of spirit, but it kept its consistency, a certain special kind, peculiar to itself, of special type and special blend, –god called this composition [Ψύχωσιν] [= to animate, to give soul or life to], after the more auspicious meaning of the name and in accordance to its energy/action. And from it he molded myriads of souls, creating what he wanted with order and symmetry.»

Plato in ‘Timaeus’ completely discriminates the two essences the soul is made out of:

PLATO’S ‘TIMAEUS’ (C35a1-35b3):«And he (the creator) made the Soul out of the following elements and in the following manner:Out of the indivisible and eternally unchangeable essence (The Indivisible Spirit), and also out of that which has to do with material bodies and is divisible (divided by Logos), by combining therefore the two, he had essences from both and he compounded a third and intermediate kind of essence between the indivisible and the divisible. And after he had received all three kinds (the divisible, the indivisible, and the compound) he blended them into a new kind, compressing by force the reluctant and unsociable nature of each into the others. He mingled this essence with the other two and made one out of three, which he again divided into as many portions (souls) as was fitting. Each portion of these had inside it of the one, the other, and the third compound essence.»

Man’s soul therefore is twofold (dyadic). Half its part is made of the finer/subtler ‘paste’/material of this world –which is no other than the ‘ingredients’ of the “forbidden tree”– and its other half is the creator’s breath, who is, of course, no other than the fallen Lucifer.

The confirm the above unpleasant revelation, I quote an excerpt from the Gospel of Judas:

THE GOSPEL OF JUDAS, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC: «How do you know me? Truly [I] say to you, no generation of the people that are among you will know me. When his disciples heard this, they started getting angry and infuriated and began blaspheming against Him in their hearts. When Jesus observed their lack of [understanding, he said] to them, ‘Why has this agitation led you to anger? Your god who is within you (1) and […] [35] have provoked you to anger [within] your souls.»

On the contrary, Jesus said about himself:

JOHN’S GOSPEL 14: «§30. I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me (=he has nothing in Me that belongs to him).»

[Jesus here, implies that He, as Pure Spirit, does not have the creator’s breath inside Him, like every human soul]

Because of these ‘ingredients’ the human Soul is made of, Jesus says that no one of mortal birth shall be able to pass on to the Generation of the HyperCosmoi of Truth:

THE GOSPEL OF JUDAS, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, JESUS APPEARS TO THE DISCIPLES AGAIN:[37] Truly [I] say to you, no one born [of] this aeon (of this material world) will see that [generation], and no host of angels of the stars will rule over that generation, and no person of mortal birth can associate with it, because that generation does not come from […] which has become […].»

JUDAS RECOUNTS A VISION AND JESUS RESPONDS: [45] [Jesus] continued, ‘No person of mortal birth is worthy to enter the house you have seen, for that place is reserved for the holy. Neither the sun nor the moon will rule there, nor the day, but the holy will abide there always, in the eternal realm with the holy angels.»

But in order for the Soul to be saved from the mire (muck) of the material world –since it was forbidden to her (being as unclean as she was) to pass onto the Immaculate Cosmoi– some other solution had to be found.

And Jesus said:

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN, CH. 14: «§2. In my Father’s house there are many mansions. …I am going to prepare a place for you. §3. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there, you may be also.»

The Transference to this Holy Place is what the Apocalypse calls ‘The First Resurrection’. In this Place where the First Resurrection will occur (as John the Apostle says) the elect ones will remain for a thousand years. There, they will be prepared, so they can then (after a thousand years) manage to pass on to the Venerable Cosmoi of the HyperUniverses of True Light, i.e. where Jesus declares that no one of mortal birth will be able to enter.

Before entering That Prepared Place, it is imperative for the Soul to prepare. By RELINQUISHING its energy- (divisible) part, i.e. that which is made of the energy-matter/paste of the forbidden tree/world, it (the soul) must retain intact its spiritual part alone, which as pure Spirit (with no trace of energy) will finally pass on to the Immortal Cosmoi of the HyperUniverses, since of course, it will have not come from mortal birth.

Thus, the saying starts becoming clearer and is not a riddle anymore:

“He who loves his soul* shall lose it (i.e. he, who really loves his soul will loose its divisible/energy part), and he who hates his soul* in this world shall keep it for life eternal (and he who HATES THE PORTION OF HIS Soul made of this worldly matter, will safeguard its Spiritual half to an eternal life).

And of course, the world ‘soul’ must not be changed to ‘life’ just because the status quo cannot explain the riddle…

This spiritual part (the power of the Mother, according to John’s Apocryphon) –the one stolen by Lucifer– is what the HyperCosmoi of Truth are asking back, which, in order to cease being under Lucifer’s occupation, the HyperCosmoi advised him (Lucifer) to distribute it tο the Souls of Men.

Then, Jesus came to the world of matter to pay the ransom  top Lucifer, so he would give every soul the right to return to its Holy Spiritual Birthplace…

THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW, CH. 20:«§28. As the Son of man, came not to be served but to serve and to give His life as ransom for many.»
